2010-02-16: Continuous Integration

February 16, 2010

Hope you can join us for the this session on Tuesday, February 16th, 2010.

Topic: Continuous Integration – If it is so great why can’t we make it work here?

Speaker: Leon Kehl, Boxbrite Inc. MBA/ITM, PMP

This talk provides the participant an introduction to the technology associated with continuous integration as well as the benefits. However, more importantly the talk goes beyond the technology to look at the challenges of implementing this in real world situations.

Although continuous integration is an important technique for implementing an Agile process, obstacles are often encountered in many environments. The talk will be interactive providing the participant with the opportunity to think about how to overcome these obstacles in real world situations.

Speaker Bio:

Leon has 25 years of experience in the software development industry in a wide range of industries and roles. The software applications he has developed have been used in diverse applications such as image guided neurosurgery, financial applications and check and image processing. He has worked with a number of local companies include NCR, Agfa, SunLife and NDI.

During the last 6 years as a consultant Leon has implemented a number of continuous integration systems for a variety of projects in multiple companies. Those experiences have provided him with some hands on experiences of why something so simple with obvious benefits is so difficult to consistently get right.

What Leon has learned through those experiences is the technology is the least important factor in a successful implementation. Rather finding ways to modify existing behaviour and cumbersome processes are where the real challenges lie.

Hope to see you there.

Agilitrix is hosting two agile training sessions in mid-February:

These sessions seem like great value and they are offering a 10% discount if you register for both. I have attended a previous Agile Games Day that Michael Sahoto co-hosted and it was very facilitated and I found it very thought provoking and valuable.
