Organizational culture, being the set of values, ideals, norms and practices of a group, form a set of assumptions made by all participants in a group and controls the way they interact with each other and with stakeholders outside the organization. In this session Kareem will provide results from a local agile culture study.

The goals of the study were to:
• Understand how organizational culture affects agile software practices and how an organization’s culture evolves to adapt to agility
• Compare and contrast the culture of several organizations
• Get a glimpse at how culture changes over time
• Define case studies of how agile has been adapted to fit specific cultures, including how agile fits within corporate environments and management’s interactions with agile processes

In order to study culture, it is necessary to have someone step out of their native culture and into another culture in order to see the differences between them. This study asked participants to either visit another organization or host a visitor from another organization for one working day. During that day, the visitor took part as best as possible in the day-to-day work of their host company, and noted how the experience differed from their experience at their usual place of work.

Participants can expect the following outcomes:
• Ideas for improvements that can be applied to their organization
• Understanding of all of the above defined goals that are specific to them
• A summary of the sessions findings

Also, there is still time to participate in this study. Please contact Kareem at kshehata AT aeryon DOT com if you are interested.

I am not sure if the link for Kareem is correct. It is currently now directed to Jim Murphy’s blog.

Thanks Scott…I just read your email now, however, I still changed in case people wanted to get in touch with Kareem about the outcome of the session.
