Jan 22 P2P – Pitfalls in Agile Testing and How to Avoid Them

January 19, 2013

When?: Tuesday Jan 22, 2013 from 4:30p.m. to 6:00p.m.

Where?: Communitech Hub, 151 Charles St. W., Suite 100, The Tannery, (Matrix & Atlas Rooms), Kitchener, Ontario

What?: Good Agile Testing is hard. Transitioning to Agile is doomed if the testers, team or org. aren’t prepared to handle the changes in how testing is performed, managed and communicated. The path to great testing contains many traps and pitfalls along the way – including: only performing manual testing, automated tests that aren’t maintained, and user stories that aren’t “done” on time. In this interactive workshop, you will explore some of the major challenges and discover ways to avoid them. Everyone tests. Are you ready?

Who?:Paul Carvalho, Quality Architect at Desire2Learn:
Paul has been in IT for 24 years and has been tinkering with computers since the mid-70′s. He has held just about every role in development at one time or another and has focused on QA and Testing for the last 19 years. A regular speaker at Testing conferences and workshops for the past 11 years, Paul has become more involved in the Agile community over the last 4 years since he became an independent consultant.

Paul has been practicing Exploratory Testing exclusively for the last 9 years and has been teaching and coaching testers in this approach for the past 7 years. He draws upon his Science and Teaching backgrounds to help people learn in ways that are grounded in solid skepticism, ensuring that they have more questions afterwards than before they began! Paul currently consults with organisations to help them enrich their development practices with integrated QA and Testing activities, helps build test teams, and offers training and coaching on effective testing practices. He is also authoring his first book “Put Your Mind To The Test”.
